Yes, as long as your group has run activities within the past 3 years you will be eligible to apply. However, if you are a non-sporting organisation you need to be running a current physical-activity based project.

This means that your group must be majority - led by LGBT+ people, and the services it provides must be delivered largely for LGBT+ individuals / communities. We recognise that some groups are open to all - as long as your group is (majority) LGBT+ Led and has a main focus on LGBT+ communities, you will be eligible to apply.

For the purpose of this fund, physical activities is defined as any activity that intentionally and explicitly facilitates increased physical movement and wellbeing. Examples include: Hiking, skateboarding, football, ballroom & vogue, gardening, frisbee, dance, circus skills.

This refers to supporting individuals to move from inactive to active levels of physical activity. The UK’s Chief Medical Officer defines ‘inactivity’ as doing less than 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per week. For able-bodied adults, ‘active’ is defined as achieving an average of 150+ minutes of moderate physical activity per week (or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity). For disabled individuals the same framework can apply, but increased activity should be individually defined, following an adapted, abilities-first approach.

By this we mean that your group or initiative should have been delivering activities for at least 6 months, before you can apply to the fund.

Community panellists will assess your application primarily on its content and whether the amount requested is realistic for the work you plan to deliver. In some cases they may award less, or occasionally more, than the amount requested, although they are encouraged to assess the application as submitted. We encourage groups to make sure their proposal and budget are clear, realistic, and well aligned.

Yes, you can. One of the organisations would need to act as a ‘lead’ organisation for the purposes of the application process. Your joint application should be your only application (meaning you cannot additionally apply as separate / individual organisations).

Over the last couple of years Consortium has been building its capabilities as a specialised LGBT+ Funder. With this growth we have also developed the LGBT+ Fund as the brand for our ongoing grant giving and to further develop it into the UK’s first LGBT+ Endowment Fund in the future. From now on all funding given through Consortium will be branded as the LGBT+ Fund, powered by Consortium.

We are prioritising organisations and groups supporting these intersectional communities of focus as they are underserved and underfunded currently in UK grant-making. We will still accept applications from organisations/groups supporting other LGBT+ people, but we are prioritising these community groups.

All organisations/groups should have good governance, appropriate financial management in place and high standards of safeguarding for staff, volunteers and those using their support or services, however we do recognise that smaller, grassroots organisations/groups may not have all these structures in place.

The team can advise if an application idea will be suitable/eligible for the fund, but as all final decisions are made by our community panel and as we receive a high number of eligible applications, we cannot advise as to whether an application will be successful in advance.

No, your organisation/group does not need to be a member of Consortium to apply to the fund.

Yes, you can apply for this fund if you are in current receipt of a grant from Consortium/LGBT+ Fund.

Yes, if you completed your End of Grant Report and you spent your grant in line with what the original request was for.
