What is Queer joy?
- It’s chosen family.
- It’s first crushes and first pronouns.
- It’s community centres, coffee meet-ups, youth groups, book clubs, late-night conversations and safe spaces where people can finally exhale.
But here’s what doesn’t feel joyful:
LGBT+ causes receive just 0.1% of all UK charitable income — that’s only 10p in every £100 donated.
The spaces that make queer joy possible are operating on almost nothing. The 2025 LGBT+ Fund report states that:
- 24% of LGBT+ groups have no income at all.
- 68% of organisers regularly use their own money to run services.
Behind every joyful Pride photo is often a volunteer who paid for the room hire themselves.
Behind every safe social space is someone covering costs out of pocket.
Behind every thriving community moment is a group wondering how they’ll fund the next one.
And yet — joy keeps happening.
Because queer joy is powerful.
Because joy is how we survive.
Because celebration is a form of resistance.
Queer Joy is worth funding!
Why £10 Matters
In a sector receiving just 10p in every £100 donated, £10 or more goes a long way.
Your £10 can help:

✨ Fund a peer support group
✨ Cover digital hosting for an online meet-up
✨ Support a grassroots organiser who shouldn’t have to self-fund joyful activity

The LGBT+ Fund is here to benefit all members of our community across the UK and without your help, it becomes harder to reach everyone who needs our support!
Donating towards the LGBT+ Fund could not be easier and there are multiple ways in which you can do it.
- £15 could pay for a one-to-one fundraising support session.
- £25 could cover travel for LGBT+ volunteers attending a training day.
- £50 could pay for room hire for a Trans Network round table event.

Leave a gift in memory - Funeral and memorial collections
You can also send donations in lieu of flowers collected at funerals and memorial services. This is an incredibly touching way to help raise money for the LGBT
